Cinema German Expressionism

During the development of silent film era of cinema, there are some very influential movement in the world, one of which is the flow of expressionism in Germany. Expressionism itself originated from the term painting and poetry before developing into the art of literature, performing arts, building until finally the art of film. Expressionism is a stream that expresses the human mind in the abstract; flow that emphasizes the emotional and personal reaction to an artist; different from the flow of realism that gave priority to the work exactly like the original form.

Pretty Woman: The story of Cinderella in today's packaging

The film revolves around a Miliader named Edward Lewis (Gere) meets with a femalesex worker named Vivian Ward (Roberts). Edward then took Vivian to the hotel where he stayed and "booked" for several days. Time is running and the love relationshipbetween Edward and Vivian began intertwined. Nothing special about the movie PrettyWoman plot, the formula used in the movie even this very simple and easy to predict.But of course there are reasons that make this popular romantic drama film is sold in the market .. The lack of similar-themed movies at the time of its release could be themain factor of success of this film.

The influence of German Expressionism Flow

Although the style of expressionism only seven years old but the impact was so great for the development of film industry in the world. The number of industry players Germans who moved to America when it also made Hollywood movies influenced the style of expressionism. This style is mainly influenced horror films of Universal production in the era of the 30s seen in the background and character of the monster; film noir * 40s-era look at the lighting arrangements and the use of shadow, as well as films by Orson Welles. In Germany alone the influence of this style still seems to early 30's, like M (1931) and Dr Testament. Mabuse (1932), both of Lang's work.

The Brave One , Talk About the Justice and Truth

Erica Bain (Foster) is a radio announcer in New York City who live happily togetherDavid fiancee. One night when they both relax in the middle of Central Park, they were confronted by three thugs who intend to rob them. David fight and they were bothpersecuted. David was killed but Erica survived. After recovering physically but notmentally, she suffered trauma and excessive fear. For the sake of comfort, Erica evenpurchase firearms illegally. Once when Erica was forced to shoot a robber the store todefend himself. To her surprise after this action Erica actually find inner satisfactionthat is able to close the trauma and fear. Erica is now turned into a figure of "streetsweeper" who works outside the law. Detective Mercer (Howard) who are also fansErica is the police who investigated this case.

The Tourist, Depp and Jolie + Venice? Disaster

Alexander Pearce is an international fugitive who has been embezzling hundreds of billions of pounds. Interpol England under the leadership of Superintendent John Acheson (Bettany) to supervise the movements of a woman named Elise (Jolie) who allegedly close to Pearce. Elise receive guidance through a letter so he could meet with Pearce as well as to outwit the police who follow him. Elise follow instructions to take the train to the City of Venice and sit with someone who figures similar to Pearce, namely a tourist named Frank Tupelo (Depp). Elise also invited Frank to stay at a luxury hotel in Venice. British police who originally wanted to capture Frank realized that if it turns out they were swindled, but one group of gangsters who got the wrong info just wanted to catch Frank.

Direct Cinema


At the end of the 50's to mid 60's the development of documentary film underwent major changes. In production, film-makers began using a camera that is lighter and thecar, a small number of crew, and the rejection of the draft manuscript and traditionalstructures. This approach is known by many terms, such as "candid" cinema, "uncontrolled" cinema, tocinema Verite (in French), but generally known as Direct Cinema. Some factorsinfluencing the emergence of this trend, namely the Italian neorealism movement thatpresents a realistic everyday, technological innovation 16mm cameras smaller andlighter, innovation portable voice recorder, and television performers whose popularityis increasing. Cinema Direct approach is widely used mainly American film maker,Canada, and France.

Era After World War ( History of Documentary Film )


In the era after the post-Second World War, the development of documentary filmexperience a fairly significant change. Increasingly rare documentary film playing intheaters and the studios began to cut production. The growing popularity of televisionmade the new market for documentary films. Senior documentary filmmakers, likeFlaherty, Vertov, and Grierson is no longer productive as the first time. Cinematographer-new filmmakers began to emerge and is supported by the present condition of world peace more secure and facilitate their films are knowninternationally. One tendency is visible is the documentary genre with more personaland more sophisticated camera technology that helps them perform a variety oftechnical innovations. The theme of the documentary even more widespread and morespecific, such as social observation, expedition and exploration, coverage ofsignificant events, ethnography, art, culture and so forth.
