Goldfinger, Best Bond Ever?

Goldfinger (1964) is the third film adventure of the secret agent 007 after Dr. No (1962) and From Russia with Love (1963). As before, this film is adapted from the novel by Ian Fleming. Goldfinger is the first Bond film directed by Guy Hamilton after the maker of two previous films, Terence Young, and others involved in film production. For third time, the legendary British actor, back playing his Sean Connery as James Bond, and this time accompanied by Honor Blackman, Gert Frobe, Shirley Eaton, and Harold Sakata. Several key players also appeared earlier Bond films ie, Bernard Lee (M), Louis Maxwell (Miss Moneypenny), and Desmon Llewelyn (Q). Goldfinger is regarded by many observers as the most influential the Bond films are a starting point for the development of the next Bond film.

Bond this time given the task of investigating a businessman named Auric Goldfinger (Frobe), who suspected the MI6 had smuggled gold out of the country. Bond simple task, namely to find out how to Goldfinger to smuggle gold out of the country. The investigation took Bond to a warehouse owned by Goldfinger acreage in the hills of Switzerland. Bond plans there unexpectedly destroyed by a sniper who was a young woman named Tilly Masterson (Eaton), who wants to kill Goldfinger to avenge her sister's death. In pursuit, Tilly had been killed and Bond caught. During the prisoner, Bond finally learned the grand scheme of Goldfinger. The boss along with his assistant, Pussy Galore (Blackman) was intended for an atomic bomb Fort Knox, where the U.S. gold reserves, with the aim to destroy the world economy and thereby increase the value of gold sales. Bond in conditions of captivity to use all your brainpower and charm to turn things around and save the world before it's too late.

Like most Bond films, Goldfinger using a simple linear plot line with a short duration of the story. But almost all of its unique plot (95%) from beginning to end, the camera eye always follow the character of Bond. Important stories all information obtained through the Bond, such as how to plan Goldfinger through Fort Knox, which he overheard from the basement under the model (the model). Normally Bond movies, evil plan outlines the boss we have seen since the beginning. This allows a lot of surprises in the film's story. Through this narrative as the figure that originally we underestimate Goldfinger, little by little began to look his charisma as a figure of evil boss is smart and influential. The uniqueness of the plot is also shown through the character of Tilly Masterson. The emergence of such strong characters as Tilly suggests to us that the girl will become constant companion until the end of the Bond films. But the unexpected is only intermittent for some time, the girl was killed tragically by a subordinate Goldfinger. Bond character of the other girl, Pussy Galore emerged after half the movie, it was not until the end of our film (including Bond himself) just to know if the girl on the side of Bond.

When compared to other Bond films, Goldfinger minimal effective action scene. Exciting action scene just recorded only two sequences, when Bond using sophisticated car chase to avoid the enemies in Switzerland, and the climactic sequence at Fort Knox. True Bond film is not a mere action film. Bond use violence if he is forced or pressured, and in this case this Goldfinger looks. Bond is also not described as a hero figure who can not lose. Almost all the movies he was always in a weak position and did not receive outside assistance. Bond rely on pure luck and ultimately pesonanyalah (charm) to help her. Toward the end of the Bond films before knowing if that turns out Pussy Goldfinger ruin all the plans. "I must have appeal to her maternal instict" he said. Actually when I first met Bond, Pussy had said, "You Can turn off the charm .. I'm immune. " This new James Bond!

As usual Bond films, Goldfinger display equipment and fixtures made of Q espionage far beyond its time. Actually since From Russia with Love has a kind of espionage equipment used, but still minimal, only a multi-function luggage. One of the most prominent instrument is the use of sedans in Goldfinger Aston Martin DB-5, which is equipped with sophisticated equipment such as a tracking device, machine guns, a chair thrower, license plates that can be changed, the smoke and grease, iron, bullet proof, and many others. Through this vehicle Goldfinger set standards for equipment (gadgets) espionage in the next Bond film. But one thing is unique, in the usual Bond films, these devices are often able to change the situation at the time Bond wedged position, but in no case Goldfinger. This is what makes Goldfinger feels more "humane" than other Bond films.

Enchantment as well as an acting force to be half the strength of Sean Connery films. After two previous Bond films, Connery seems increasingly mature and comfortable with the character of James Bond. Sean Connery is James Bond. James Bond is Sean Connery. Connery was the perfect person to play Bond character is smart, loyal, humorous, hard, cold, high flavor, and many women crazy. Goldfinger plus five other Bond films starring Connery as has been enough to make the best Bond actor of all time. While Gert Frobe as Goldfinger playing well enough though he was not the enemy of the best Bond. Harold Sakata looks exactly as the bodyguard, Oddjob, though did not say a word was able to capture our attention. Plus point is for Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore playing. Blackman capable of playing very well as a hard figure for female pilots, independent, and masculine but eventually subdued by the charm Bond. Not excessive if Blackman is regarded as one actor best bond girl.

One more thing characterized the Bond films is a timeless Bond theme music created by John Barry. But this time the Bond theme music increasingly sharpened by Goldfinger theme song is chanted by the famous pop singer at the time, Shirley Bassey. Chanted the lyrics and the song is so right on the opening credits with the theme of the film so that the fuse can be said to be a Bond movie theme song the best. The use of the Goldfinger theme music scene was never missed.

If we compare with other Bond films, Goldfinger has the uniqueness of the plot through a story that surprises us the prediction difficult. A combination of acting Connery, Aston Martin DB5, Goldfinger theme song to progressively add points of his films. Bond films in general, there is nothing bad but nothing special but Goldfinger is an exception. Goldfinger best Bond ever? I think so ... what do you think?
