The Wolfman, a remake of Maximum Operating

The Wolfman is a drama-horror film is a remake of a film titled the same production in 1941. Remake this time worked by Joe Johnston, known as films such as Jumanji (1995), October Sky (1999), Jurrasic Park 3 (2001), and Hidalgo (2004). Films starring senior actors like Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and Emely Blunt.

Film's story set in England in the 1890s. Once Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) back to his homeland in the village of Blackmore to find out because his brother's death after mailed by his brother's fiancee, Gwen Conliffe (Blunt). When he arrived he was greeted by his father equated the eccentric, Sir John Talbot (Hopkins). Rumors developed in the village said that his brother was killed by a monster. In the moonlit night, Lawrence was looking for information in a Gypsy camp, suddenly the place was attacked by a monster wolf form. Lawrence tried to chase the poor but in fact he actually wounded by the bite of the monster. Beyond Lawrence healed quickly and without realizing he felt a big change in him.

Compared with the original film's story was very noticeable that the maximum effort to be more acceptable to contemporary audiences. The core story is still the same outline, but his treatment is different. His story is more dramatic and allows many action scenes to appear, for example as exciting action sequences in London as well as the final scene on the riverbank. Yet still, in general, his story is too cliched and predictable.

The main advantage of this film is how the filmmakers were able to build an atmosphere of gloom and darkness to support the film's story. Dark lighting system plus the effects of fog plus a fascinating setting also increased the magical feel of the movie. Setting interior "palace" Talbot family seemed so convincing and natural without any attempt to increase the intensity of lighting (brighter). One more added value is another illustration of music by composer Danny Elfman seasoned with a unique music style can give another dimension of music like classic horror silent film era.

The Wolfman is a highly original film remakes maximal effort. The story is too simple to offer even packed in the setting and atmosphere that is very intriguing. Hopkins and Del Toro is playing according to their class maximum. Compared to the films mentioned above the film maker, this film is clearly still below both in terms of story and action. To restore the glory era of movie-production of Universal horror films 30s decade it is still far from a dream. This murky shades plus film music (Elfman) are heavily reminiscent of the films Tim Burton. I do not know if it worked on whether Burton could be better?
